Blue Cheese Ball

This keto blue cheese ball is my go-to when I need a quick, impressive appetizer for parties or casual get-togethers. Creamy cream cheese, tangy blue cheese, and sharp cheddar blend with minced onion and a touch of Worcestershire sauce to create a flavor-packed spread. Rolled in crunchy walnuts, it’s a textural delight that’s low in carbs and always a hit.

Blue Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  • (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • cup crumbled blue cheese
  • cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • /4 cup minced onion
  • tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Step 1

In a medium bowl, I combine the softened cream cheese, crumbled blue cheese, shredded cheddar, minced onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything together until well mixed and creamy, using a spatula for an even blend. Next, take a separate small bowl and line it with plastic wrap, allowing some overhang. Transfer the cheese mixture into the lined bowl and press it down gently. Cover with the overhanging plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight—this lets the flavors meld beautifully. The next day, remove the bowl from the fridge. Use the plastic wrap to gather the mixture into a rough ball shape. Spread the chopped walnuts on a dinner plate. Unwrap the cheese ball and place it on the nuts. Gently roll it around, pressing nuts into all sides until fully coated. If it’s too soft, pop it back in the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up. Serve immediately with low-carb crackers or crisp celery sticks. It’s that simple!

Chef's Tip

For an extra smooth texture, I let the cream cheese come fully to room temperature before mixing. It blends more easily and helps prevent lumps. Toasting the walnuts lightly before coating adds a deeper nutty flavor.

Storage Tips

Wrap leftovers tightly in plastic and refrigerate for up to 5 days. For best texture, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving again. Avoid freezing as cream cheese can become grainy.

Variation Tips

Swap walnuts for pecans or almonds for a different crunch. You can also roll the ball in fresh herbs like parsley or chives for a color contrast. Serve with a variety of low-carb dippers such as celery sticks, cucumber rounds, or flaxseed crackers.
