First, make sure your cream cheese is properly softened – I usually let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and shredded cheddar until they start to blend together. Add in the garlic powder, salt, chopped ham, and chopped olives. I find it helpful to use a fork to mash everything until it's evenly distributed. Once the mixture is uniform, use your hands to shape it into a ball. Don't worry if it feels a bit sticky

that's normal. Now, spread the chopped walnuts on a plate or shallow dish. Roll the cheese ball gently in the walnuts, pressing them into the surface until the entire ball is thickly coated. It might take a little patience to get every nook and cranny covered. Finally, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Chilling for at least an hour helps the flavors meld and makes the cheese firm enough to hold its shape. When you're ready to serve, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes so it's easier to spread.
